Vintner Grill Las Vegas

Every once in a while its nice to splurge a little. And kicking the New Year off right with a great meal is as good a time as any. So on our recent visit to Las Vegas, we made reservations off the Vegas strip at Vintner Grill in the Summerlin neighbourhood.

The location and setup is different from most other restaurants in Summerlin. Instead of the conventional restaurant front facing the road, its actually hidden within an office complex and could easily be missed. When you do find it, the restaurant is very nice with valet parking and a stylish outdoor patio. And the decor inside the restaurant is absolutely fabulous. Kind of classy old Hollywood meets modern sleek and chic style.

Speaking of Hollywood, the entrance features a couple video screens appropriately showing vintage black and white films from the likes of Eleanor Powell and Astaire & Rogers. Fun little touch to help stay with the brand and atmosphere. And the service at Vintner Grill is very attentive and professional. You get the impression that they would do pretty much anything for you – they had no problem going off-menu to prepare a special gourmet version of chicken fingers that our daughter was craving. Always appreciated.

Speaking of the food, it was exceptional as expected. We went with their special New Year’s Eve selections which included the best steak tartare I have ever eaten and a creamy and rich crab bisque for our appetizers. And with a name like Vintner Grill, we opted for the wine pairings and loved all the sommelier selections.

For our main courses, we chose a beautifully prepared stuffed trout and my old standby, seared duck breast with a red wine and berry reduction. Fantastic! And the desserts are outstanding as well – decadent and delicious.

Vintner Grill is an excellent choice when looking for something special away from the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas strip. Highly recommended. For now, back to the cage.
