I have mentioned in previous posts that from an early age, I have always had a fascination with the paranormal, UFOs and things like ancient artifacts. So when we are on our various hikes around the world, I tend to keep my eye out for anything unusual. On this occasion (I must be rubbing off) – it was actually my wife and daughter that came across what appeared to be the fossilized remains of a large bird like creature in the rocks of the Grand Canyon. Now, we may have been delirious from the heat and strain of our hike, but the artifact did really look like it featured a detailed spin, wing bones, legs and a long neck and beak. I’m including some close-ups and then a more distant shot – the whole “skeleton” probably measured more than 8 feet across.
It was probably nothing, but still pretty cool to think that it may have been the remnants of some ancient prehistoric bird. At least my daughter got a kick out of it! And that’s one thing I really love about hiking, especially in far-off or exotic locations. You never know what you might come across. For now, back to the cage.
